‘Botany Bay’ Forestry Commission Woodland near Dunsfold/Chiddingfold Surrey
During the lockdown period I have taken to going on longer walks and discovering new places particularly in my local area. I was made aware of ‘Botany Bay’ by Susanna, a good friend of mine.
The woodland inspired me to take photos in almost every step and on the way collecting leaves and bark for colour and texture samples. I like especially the way the sunlight shone through the tress and reflected off into the woodland, it was very magical and am sure at night the mysteries of another world would inhabit it!

Walking back to the car along the road the side verges caught my attention, They reminded me of paintings and sketches by Graham Sutherland. ‘The Thicket’ Canvas 100cm x 100cm 1978. – ‘A moving picture, with a harmony of green tones, is a tangle of fantastic and contorted shapes possibly suggestive of age-old fears of the forest and the ultimate mystery of nature.’
